Due to the growing population of our gym we have made a few changes to the class timetable, from next week certain times will be scheduled as Beginner/Intermediate or Advanced. While you will still be welcome to attend any class, classes labelled "beginner/intermediate" or "advanced" have that focus during the session. We encourage you to mix and match your timetable with some Beginner and General classes for our newer members, and some Advanced AND General classes for our older members.
Please see the timetable changes below.

The following video is about Laura Dziak, a former model who when she first started CrossFit was concerned about bulking up. What preoccupied her more, however, was doing a workout as RX'd. Today, she's gained a total of 15 lb. of muscle but is still a Size 0. Check out her story below courtesy of CrossFit HQ, well worth watching!!

We will be making a few changes over the coming weeks - why? Because we are constantly striving to be better and make you better athletes (who can achieve their goals). We started on Monday with a change in programming - CrossFit Norwest will now follow the RAW Strength and Conditioning CrossFit Program. All workouts will still have scaling options for beginner, intermediate and advanced. Those of you that have a current Norwest workout log-in will soon be receiving an email about the log-in changes. Please read the email carefully and forward any questions you might have our way.

Last week with the assistance of the team at ASN Castle Hill, I started following a supplement plan to aid my training, performance and recovery. I've got the training and diet side of things down pat, so I'm hoping trying some new supplements will add another level to my performance.
I have been taking Infrared NRG as an intra (during) workout supplement. Known as a "performance fuel" it can be taken pre workout or during the workout. The thing that appealed to me most was the fact that it doesn't contain any caffeine or stimulants, thus it will not overstimulate nor increase cortisol. It's only been a week but I am loving Infrared NRG - I have been doing ALOT of lifting and strength work, and my sessions have been LONNNGGG. Infrared makes me feel great (and allows me to remain motivated - it acts as a mood leveler) during these sessions, on top of my game and able to put 100% effort into each set. If you've ever done a lifting program before, you'd know that these sessions can be tough to get through, Infrared really aids my training. Not that it's the most important thing but it also tastes fantastic - I have to stop myself from sculling it and remember little sips throughout the session. While taking this supplement it is important to keep your water consumption up - have a bottle of water and alternate between the two, then you'll reap the full benefits.

FROM NOW......... @ CrossFit Norwest we would like you to begin your own warm up for the class. I understand that some may be NEW to exercise so I have tried to make a simple summary of what is expected of you when you turn up to the box. Those of you who have been coming for a while............ I hope......... are educated enough to 1. Help those who maybe a little lost and 2. Be able to help yourselves in the warm up department. The trainers WILL ALWAYS take you for part of a warm up. We would hope you can do the general stuff yourself so the class can be full of COACHING and TRAINING rather than 10mins taken up of activities you can do yourself. Have a read below, if you do not understand please feel free to drop me an email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
What is the definition of warm up? Ideally it is a series of exercises slowly increasing in complexity to prepare our bodies physiologically for exercise. A warm up should start with simple exercises and progress to tasks that require a greater skill level to challenge your posture and position whilst reaching an arousal level that is appropriate for the task to follow. The main "WORK" aspect of a training session.
