How to Participate in the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Open

The 2015 Open has arrived and will get underway in less than one month. So what is the Open and why should you participate? The CrossFit Games Open is a five week online competition where ANYONE can participate to test their fitness against themselves, their friends, their gym members, those of their age or gender (anywhere in the World). Last year more than 209,000 people of all ages, races, experience levels and genders participated in the Open competition. Over the five weeks each weekly Open workout is completed at your affiliate with your fellow members - over the last few years we have seen people achieve their first double unders, first muscle ups, hit PR clean and jerks etc. The Open allows you to push yourself to your limits, have something to train for and be a part of a community event. You can complete each week's Open workout as many times as you would like however you must submit your score online each week before the deadline. At the end of the five weeks you can see where you stand against other people your age, your experience level etc. The top athletes from the Open go on to the Regionals competition (we have had a team and individuals qualify every year since its inception) and the top masters complete another round of workouts. This year the Open will have teen, masters, scaled and RXD categories - The Open really is for EVERYONE! Every Saturday and Monday the Open workout will be our programmed session so you will be performing the workouts regardless of whether you sign up or not - so why not give it a go. You have until the Open commences on the 26th February to sign up!

We're Back!

Rob and I arrive back in Sydney early this morning after two weeks of training and competing in the US. I will be on reception this afternoon and look forward to catching up with all of you then. A big thanks to Libby, Jamie, Andy, Nooks, Johnny, Lee and Georgia for holding down the fort while we have been away. We are lucky to have such good friends and coaches on our side.

CrossFit in Dural: The Deadlift

CrossFit and Ego

CrossFit is the ultimate test of ego because you walk through the door on your first day and you just cannot be good at everything. There are so many domains of fitness constantly being practiced and tested in new and varied ways that you might be good at some things, if you're a bit of a genetic freak you might be good at lots of things but no one will ever be good at everything from the beginning. CrossFit forces you to tackle these weaknesses, as CrossFit Founder Greg Glassman states, "Hiding from your weakness is a recipe for incapacity and error." This is 100% true. In CrossFit you are only as good as your weakest event/skill/movement.

Kids CrossFit and fitness Classes Dural

CrossFit Norwest's kids fitness classes recommence on the 27th January at 3:45pm. The classes run twice weekly every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-4:30pm. The cost is $10 for the children of members and $15 for the children of non members. The first class is free to try out. CrossFit Womens Only Classes

CrossFit Norwest, Dural now offers two Ladies only CrossFit classes a week - these classes are specifically programmed for general health, weight loss and learning CrossFit skills in an intimidation free environment. Both classes run for one hour and are capped at 12 participants. Our classes are run by Coach Libby who specialises in female training, nutrition and stretch.
