ASSESSMENT
Training at CrossFit Norwest requires dedication, hard work, sweat and sometimes tears. When you are new to CrossFit it is compulsory to under go a physical assessment. A physical assessment is used to not only to let the Norwest staff know where you would like to take your fitness but also to put together a strategy of how you'll get there.
During your assessment you will be put through a number of compound lifts to ascertain your lifting capacity in relation to your body weight. These individual lifts will be tallied, scored and using a formulae bracket you in a particular ability level. After these lifts are performed you will be put through a metabolic conditioning circuit utilising various energy systems and muscle groups which will be timed to see what your metabolic conditioning capacity is across broad time.
On completion of the assessment you will walk away with a start up pack which include your scores from you compound lifts as well as the time of your metabolic conditioning workout and where your total fitness is ranked on a broad spectrum. Other information in the pack will be an introduction to the RAW nutritional system, advice on recovery, hydration and hand care.
FORMALITIES OUT OF THE WAY!!
So you have heard about CrossFit. You want to give it a go but you feel a little apprehensive after witnessing some crazy fit guy or girl smash through a stomach churning session and collapse in a heap in a pool of sweat on some CrossFit site or youtube video. At CrossFit Norwest we understand why you could be apprehensive!
What is Crossfit for?
Crossfit is dedicated to providing a road to elite fitness for all people.
Crossfit is appropriate for everyone from world-class rock climbers or mountain bikers to firefighters and law enforcement professionals to everyday persons seeking general fitness or even elders who wish to preserve their ability to live independently.
For elite athletes, Crossfit provides a solid base from which to develop skills particular to your needs. There is tremendous crossover of the functional skills and movements we train to human performance in all areas of athletic endeavor.
For the rest of us, Crossfit improves health and general conditioning more than other programs. The functional skills and movements we train are useful in your everyday life and will change your body far more than those at the traditional gym.
You don’t need to be in shape to come to Crossfit; you get in shape by coming to Crossfit!
How we are different:
Active coaching.
Workouts are performed in small groups with focused training from a highly qualified coach.
Superior methods.
Better results are achieved with free weights, functional movements and intensity than with the standard gym’s machines and circuit training.
Scalability.
All our workouts are tailored to what is appropriate for the individual, regardless of if they are an Olympic athlete or have never trained before.
Reality check.
We don’t emptily promise you a beautiful body with no effort other than shelling out for some ineffective supplement.
Crossfit will challenge you to push your personal limits and lead you to the best shape of your life.
CrossFit is not only for the fire breathing athlete (individuals who like push them selves to the limits). CrossFit is for everyone. With out a doubt the hardest aspect of CrossFit is walking through the door. Once you walk through that door, you are addicted.
