The North Face 100 is run every May through the picturesque Blue Mountains in Sydneys West. The highly-anticipated 100km endurance running test-piece, staged in heart of the rugged and spectacular Blue Mountains National Park, is set to return. Lock it in the calendar, lace-up your running shoes, it’s time to start training!

For the third consecutive year, The North Face invites runners of all kinds to step up and take on one of the toughest running events of the year, The North Face 100. An event that is certainly not for the faint hearted, or only elite runners, but is open to all those brave and willing enough to submit their selves to the ultimate endurance running challenge.

A glance over the starting line of The North Face 100 reveals a mixed bag of runners from ultra-marathon aficionados in search of the ultimate test-piece, to seasoned road marathoners making the transition to off-road trails, and probably the biggest bunch of all - recreational runners with an adventurous spirit, a desire to explore their personal limits, and achieve something incredible.

With a 2009 record time of 10 hours, 22 minutes and 51 seconds held by Blue Mountains local Andrew Lee, the bar has been set, and talk of a sub-10hr race record in 2010 is spreading. Now is the time to lace-up and prepare to tackle The North Face 100. Are you tough enough?

Endurance comes in all distances. Find yours in The North Face 100.

    Fat ASS runs

7am start! Probably the greatest success in the world of Ultrarunning is the Comrades Marathon (www.comrades.com) held in June every year in South Africa which attracts between 10,000 and 15,000 runners yearly. The event is held on the hilly road between Durban and Pietermaritzburg (approx 90km), alternating directions every year.A number of runners in Australia have travelled to this prestigous event and are full of praise for it. Our event is being held for those runners who would like to attempt Comrades but can't afford to travel to South Africa - hence the Poor Man's Comrades. It is a hilly road course of approx the same distance, alternating directions every year (UP in Australia when UP in south Africa etc) so the feeling should be approximately the same .. except without the crowds .. or the water stops fully stocked with Coca-Cola every mile or ...This run is absolutely not sanctioned nor authorised by the Official Comrades Marathon

Starting at Gosford and finishing at the Sydney Opera House the run is predominatley all the Old Pacific Highway with little aid apart from what you can carry or the Sydney Water available at taps. The run is 90 odd km.

Maps will be provided at the start line

    • National Park Ultra

This run used to be held as an organised race through the Royal National Park, during much of the 1990s. It was organised by Billies Bushies running club and last held in 1998, and it the news that the race was cancelled in 199 was met with great sadness as it is such a well loved event on a beautiful course (reason given was it was too hard to organise). On 9th September 2000 a FAT-ASS style training run was held for the first time (no results timed for this run). We have made an attempt to document the original route so its not lost forever and from time to time, runs are made on the original route.

    Distance :

    • approx 48.7km - Short Option

    • approx 75.1km - Long Option

Start Location : Grays Point Oval, Angle Road, Grays Point. (See map of start here).Finish Location : Bundeena RSL, Bundeena. (See map of finish here).Start Facilities : Car park (free), toilets, water tap.Time Limit: None - take as long as you like.Entry Fee: Free! (although you may make a donation after the run if you feel the experience warrants payment).Course Summary : A point to point route - Undulating, bush trails and sand, beach and track. Some great views over the cliffs and thru rainforest. The course often changes and so is always exciting!

August (date to be confirmed) FREE

    Fat ASS runs

12 foot track (6 foot track but return -90km)The Six Foot Track Marathon is about the 2nd oldest trail run in Australia, having been held every year since 1984.This run, the 12 Foot Track, is an out and back along the same route.Absolutely you should not even think of starting this run if you have not run the Six Foot Track before - it is a very demanding run.The run is usually on City to Surf weekend (your choice : Sydney or the bush) to allow the possibility of the Herrman-Double (12 foot and city to surf on the same weekend). Feel free to do this run yourself as a training run at any time.

    September 19th 2010 -Sunday ($135-155)

    • Blackmores Sydney Running festival Marathon 20 September 2009

CrossFit Norwest is putting a team together to run in the Blackmores Sydney Marathon. This event is run on the 20th September 2009. Those members who are keen to run under the Norwest  team will do so with no extra running training. the only training these members are to perform is the prescribed CrossFit workouts. This is going to be a testament to how good CrossFit training really is and its universal application to over come any task. There will be no records set, no boasting about fast times but just a challenge to show how ordinary individuals can achieve extraordinary results. If you can't run you walk, if you can't walk you crawl, if you can't crawl then we'll get the medics. The aim is to finis, not on the podium but just finish first in your own mind for achieving something you thought you would never do. For this event time does not matter!!!

CrossFit Norwest Games RESULTS 5th JULY 2009

CrossFit Norwest held it's first CrossFit style games. The games come on the back of the Australasian Qualifiers in April. The affliate games aims to be a monthly opportunity for a different affliate to put together one or more workouts for the rest of the CrossFit community to participate in and experience. The CrossFit Norwest Games turned out to be a great success. There was a fair amount of variety in the workouts, some of which have probably never been attempted before. It was a great time for the fire breathers to mix it with others from different regions as well as the uninitiated to have a go. The day ran smoothly despite probably seeming a little chaotic  however every participate got a little out of the day.

The results in no particular order are below. They are also available on the FORUM for you to post your comments on the day or join in some other CrossFit related topics. I hope the success experienced today will lead to more affliate gatherings in the future. Photos from the first workout are on the site now under the CrossFit Norwest photos tab in the menu.
