It’s been a while between drinks, I mean protein shake or blogs, however this blog is more a show of appreciation and gratitude rather than nuggets of gold and training secrets.
RAW Strength was never meant to be as popular or successful as it is. We have been very lucky to have helped some extremely talented athletes in our time. These athletes are amazing. Dare I say they would have succeeded with many or ANY other coaches but I was lucky enough to play a small roll in their development. This year from our small pool of athletes (we do not have countless thousands on out books) we had 17 athletes at Regionals as Individuals, a few teams, two masters at the Games and a few more Individual games athletes; Brent Fikowski, James Newbury and Jess Coughlan.
Whilst in Portland I was discussing with Brent the best way we could get him prepared for the games and the least stress on compeition days was to get someone we both trusted to take the thinking out of everything for him. I was going to be busy with Jess, James and Brent in warm ups, strategy and leaderboarding. Brent and I came up with a plan to invite my good friend Dan Condon who owns CrossFit Lower Mountains in Sydney’s west. Dan started coaching at my gym in 2010 after joining my gym as a member in 2009. Dan was the one guy I could trust to have Brent’s back while I was chasing my tail. Following the Games I discussed with Dan the possibility of him coming onboard to aid in programming for Individual clients.
I’ll give you a list of Dan’s achievements:

An impressive resume and it is for this reason that after some mentoring I welcome Dan to the RAW Strength and Conditioning coaching team.
Whilst away in Madison our home base was left thin for coaching staff. Several athletes away, some supporting, and our usual coaches stepped up and took on some of the slack.
During this time Steve Norman although young and still learning stepped up to the plate and helped handle the load. He showed great maturity and I’ve been lucky enough to witness his evolution from a young cocky 14 or 15 year old to a young successful athlete and trainer who took gold in his weight class after a small amount of training in the National Youth competition. I’m pretty sure he still holds the NSW records. Through hard work and dedication Steve was one of the first picked to represent Team Norwest at the 2017 Regionals.
Certificate 3 and 4 Fitness Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science
Through his hard work, dedication, thirst for knowledge and recent maturity I’m pleased to welcome Steve to the RAW team where he will be mentored and developed to become an outstanding coach.
Welcome to our two newest coaches!
